QuickBooks® Setup Crash Course: Avoid the Top Ten Setup Errors

A small business workshop sponsored by:

Asian-American Entrepreneur’s Network and Fresh Concentrate

Hosted and co-sponsored by Sterling National Bank

Setup your books right!

During this workshop, you will personalize a step-by-step action plan for QuickBooks setup.  Whether you are setting up your books for the first time, or simply reviewing your initial setup to improve accuracy and efficiency, you will walk away from this workshop with new tools and deeper understanding of the inter-workings of QuickBooks.

In this workshop, we will cover:

  • Calculating and entering Opening Balances in your new QuickBooks file

  • Designing and structuring a meaningful Chart of Accounts

  • Using and reviewing your Checking Account Register

  • Developing your monthly bookkeeping and review task-list

  • Avoiding and spotting 10 of the most common QuickBooks errors

This is not a teaser!  This fast paced one-hour workshop will require that you roll up your sleeves and get to work.  Note:  We usually teach QuickBooks setup and use over ten customized one-hour sessions.  This workshop provides an overview that you can use to do your own self-taught work, or use to structure a training program with your accountant.  Expect to walk out of this workshop with a list of additional self-learning exercises, and a task list for yourself or your bookkeeper.

Who should attend: This workshop is for QuickBooks beginners, entrepreneurs handling their own books, and those without a background in accounting or bookkeeping.  We prepared this workshop for business owners wanting to do their own bookkeeping, but the topic is also relevant to owners who will hire and oversee bookkeepers.
